This will be one of the top deals in 2014 within the e-commerce market. It`s has been approved that the e-commerce giant Rakuten will buy one of the most popular call and messaging application Viber for $900 million.
The final goal behind this deal is obvious: to double the number of users and to get into straight competition with the giants eBay and Amazon.
Rakuten believes that such advanced messaging system could not be integrated that easily within their system and this will definitely make the communication between users and they online store much more flexible and easy. Customers also will easily contact an online store in Rakuten, while considering purchase.
Recently Viber launched an instant messaging app for every personal computer, which benefits users to make outgoing mobile calls to other Viber users and even to a non-registered mobile. It looks like Skype has new competitor.
According to the latest update, the deal between Rakuten and Viber will be completed by end of March.
